Description:
In Pueblos where homes have no running water, every drop of water used is brought by the women in jars of fired clay known as “ollas.” Four Indian maids move beneath the sheets of pouring rain to fill their “ollas” with heavenly rain. The poise and posture of the figures and the expression on their faces reflect their spiritual connection to the thunder and cloud people. The Navajo, the Acoma, Zuni and Hopi Indians, recognize rain as the sustainer of life in the desert landscape.
