Description:
There are hundreds of sites off the beaten track that tell their stories of the past. On a ridge near Cuba, New Mexico, a cliff house and watchtowers of the Gallina culture is a ruin believed to have been inhabited between A.D. 1150 and A.D. 1256. The people who raised corn and sunflowers had a clear view of the distant hills from the cool interior of the cliff house. Rough walls are described in raw sienna, umber and ochre, the sunlight dotting the floor with warmth in this cool retreat.
