Description:
Hot ashes from a fire are swept away before bread is baked in the conical oven. The small door is closed with stones to keep heat in the adobe oven. When the oven is not in use, the stone prevents dogs from entering. Many loaves can be baked at one time in the large oven and the sweet fragrance of cedar or pinon smoke blended with the yeasty smell of baking bread is a pleasant memory of the pueblo at any season of the year.
